Plugins

By default Codex works with your files. Plugins let it reach further — into the apps you already use, like Gmail, Slack, GitHub, Notion or Google Drive. And the best part for non-coders: there's a friendly Plugins page built right into Codex where you add them with one click. Let's go there together.

Standaard werkt Codex met je bestanden. Plugins laten het verder reiken — naar de apps die je al gebruikt, zoals Gmail, Slack, GitHub, Notion of Google Drive. What a plugin is

Wat een plugin is

A plugin gives Codex a new ability by connecting it to another tool or service. Once you add the Slack plugin, you can ask Codex to "summarize my unread Slack messages." Add the Gmail plugin, and "draft a reply to the latest email from Anna" becomes possible. It's how Codex stops being limited to your files and starts helping with your whole workday.

You may also hear the words "connector" or "MCP." Don't worry about them — a plugin is the friendly package that handles all that technical connecting for you, behind one button.

Een plugin geeft Codex een nieuwe vaardigheid door het aan een andere tool of dienst te koppelen. Voeg je de Slack-plugin toe, dan kun je Codex vragen om "vat mijn ongelezen Slack-berichten samen." This lives in the friendliest spot in the app. On Windows:

  1. Look at the top-left sidebar.
  2. Find the New Thread button — and click the Plugins tab right underneath it.
  3. You're now in the plugin directory: a browsable, searchable gallery of everything you can add.

The directory is organized into three groups:

Dit zit op de prettigste plek in de app. Op Windows:

  1. Kijk naar de zijbalk linksboven.
  2. Zoek de New Thread-knop — en klik op de Plugins-tab er direct onder.
  3. Je bent nu in de plugin-directory: een doorzoekbare galerij van alles wat je kunt toevoegen.

Add your first plugin

Voeg je eerste plugin toe

There are 90+ plugins, including Gmail, Google Drive / Docs / Sheets, Slack, GitHub, Notion, Figma, Linear, Jira and more. Adding one is genuinely a few clicks:

  1. In the Plugins page, browse or search for the tool you want — say Slack.
  2. Click it, then click Add to Codex.
  3. If it needs to connect to your account, Codex asks you to sign in / authorize — just like connecting any app. (This is the step that quietly handles the technical "connector" setup for you.)
  4. Done. Start a New Thread and put it to work: "Summarize my unread Slack messages from the #project channel."

You don't even have to name the plugin every time — once it's added, Codex can pick the right one based on what you ask.

Er zijn 90+ plugins, waaronder Gmail, Google Drive / Docs / Sheets, Slack, GitHub, Notion, Figma, Linear, Jira en meer. Er een toevoegen is echt een paar klikken:

Je hoeft de plugin niet eens elke keer te noemen — eenmaal toegevoegd kiest Codex zelf de juiste op basis van je vraag.

Good first plugins for non-coders Goede eerste plugins voor niet-programmeurs

Google Drive / Docs / Sheets (work with your documents), Gmail (triage and draft email), Slack (summarize channels), Notion (pull and update notes). Add only what you actually use, and only sign in to services you trust.

Google Drive / Docs / Sheets (werk met je documenten), Gmail (e-mail sorteren en opstellen), Slack (kanalen samenvatten), Notion (notities ophalen en bijwerken). Voeg alleen toe wat je echt gebruikt, en log alleen in bij diensten die je vertrouwt.

Computer Use — a special one

Computer Use — een bijzondere

One plugin deserves its own mention: Computer Use. It lets Codex actually see and click around graphical apps — driving a browser or an app window like a person would, instead of only using files.

  • Add it from the Plugins page (or Settings → Computer Use → Install).
  • Use it by mentioning an app: "Open @Chrome and check the checkout page still works." Codex asks permission per app.
  • Windows note: it runs in the foreground — it takes over the screen while working, so you can't use that screen for other things at the same time.

Eén plugin verdient een aparte vermelding: Computer Use. Het laat Codex grafische apps echt zien en aanklikken — een browser of appvenster besturen zoals een mens, in plaats van alleen bestanden gebruiken.

  • Voeg het toe via de Plugins-pagina (of Instellingen → Computer Use → Installeren).
  • Gebruik het door een app te noemen: "Open @Chrome en controleer of de afrekenpagina nog werkt." Codex vraagt per app toestemming.
  • Windows-kanttekening: het draait op de voorgrond — het neemt het scherm over tijdens het werk, dus je kunt dat scherm ondertussen niet voor andere dingen gebruiken.
